There is no "right" answer, but I can tell you my experience. We lost our first baby to miscarriage at 9 1/2 weeks. We had told our family and friends as soon as we found out that I was pregnant. We rejoiced over our baby and our friends shared in that excitement. When we lost the baby, I was very grateful for the support of family and friends who could appreciate the devastating loss we experienced, and for the tremendous support we felt from them. I would have felt very isolated had people not known why I was so sad. We went on to have four healthy babies after that, and each time we decided to tell our family and friends as soon as we knew. Yes, there is a risk of loss with pregnancy, but my advice is not to let fear overshadow the joy, excitement and hope of new life. Enjoy your baby from the very beginning :)
